Profile

JOHNNY TANG ING HUO

Johnny is the headmaster of SRK Sang Ming in Sibu and an artist. While many would think of the term “conservative” or “inflexible” when it comes to headmasters of schools, Johnny Tang proves them wrong with his imaginative mind. Despite having dedicated most of his time to teaching, Johnny never fails to allocate time to his love and passion for arts and has successfully developed his skills, specializing in watercolour. Like many Sarawakians who find inspiration in their roots. Johnny resides in Borneo in part to keep in touch with the place and people. His work depicts the details of lifestyles, customs, the mysteries and beauty of Sarawak. Johnny is a member of the Contemporary Malaysian Watercolorist Association and a member of the Sarawak Artists’ Society. In 1989, he participated in an art study tour in London which was arranged by the British Council of London. He won the Outstanding Prize for the watercolour category in a State Wide Art Competition in 1988. His art is displayed and exhibited for many to admire in places like Korea, Taiwan, Shanghai, and of course, Malaysia.
