Suk Lan is one of the pioneers in Sarawak Fine Arts Society. She studied Arts under the tutelage of the late Mr Kueh Chai Phiaw and the late Mr Tsai Horng Chung. She is an established businesswoman but devotes much of her time painting and participating actively in various art exhibitions such as the China-Malaysia Art Show in Huangshan, China, the Sarawak Fine Arts Society-Shanghai Artists Joint Exhibition and various annual shows with the Sarawak Artists Society. Suk Lan is very active in various arts societies in Kuching. She is the Vice-President of the Kuching Chung Hua Arts Association, the Assistant Treasurer of the Sarawak Fine Arts Society, member of the Sarawak Artists Society and life member of the Balai Seni Visual Negara.
